A group of students from the Massimo d'Azeglio Lyceum school in Turin founded Sport-Club Juventus on 1 November 1897. Their original kit was pink with a black tie, but persistent washing faded the colour beyond use, and in 1903 a club member contacted a friend in Nottingham who sent over a set of black and white striped shirts, the colours of Notts County. Juventus have worn black and white ever since. The Agnelli family, founders of Fiat, took control of the club in 1923 and have shaped its identity for most of its history. Juventus hold the record for the most Serie A titles of any club, with 36 championships, and won nine consecutive league titles between 2011/12 and 2019/20. In European competition they have won the Champions League twice, in 1985 and 1996, as well as three UEFA Cups. They remain the only Italian club to have won every major UEFA competition.
The 2024/25 season saw Juventus finish 5th in Serie A, missing out on Champions League qualification, a significant step down from their recent domestic dominance. The club went without a front-of-shirt sponsor for the entire season after their deal with Jeep expired in 2023, meaning the shirts were worn entirely clean of any commercial logo, a rare sight at the highest level of European football. In the Champions League, they were eliminated in the league phase. The 2025/26 season has brought a return to the Champions League and a more competitive domestic campaign under a new coaching setup.
