Manchester City have experienced one of the most remarkable transformations in football history. Founded in 1880 as St. Mark's before adopting the name Manchester City in 1894, the club spent much of the 20th century alternating between moments of success and long periods of inconsistency. Another step forward followed in 2016 with the appointment of Pep Guardiola. Under the Spanish manager, Manchester City developed one of the most dominant playing styles English football has ever seen. In 2017/18, City became the first Premier League side to reach 100 points in a single season, finishing 19 points ahead of second place. Guardiola's team continued to collect trophies before finally completing the continental treble in 2022/23 by winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season. Erling Haaland scored 52 goals, while Kevin De Bruyne established himself as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history through his creativity and remarkable assist record.

Manchester City's sky-blue shirts have remained the club's trademark for well over a century. Umbro produced many of City's most memorable kits before Nike became supplier in 2013 and Puma took over in 2019. The Manchester City 2011/12 home shirt is one of the club's most iconic shirts because it was worn during Agüero's unforgettable title-winning season, while the 2022/23 home shirt has already become a modern classic after City's first Champions League triumph and historic treble. Older shirts featuring sponsors such as Brother and Eidos are also highly sought after, particularly by collectors looking for kits from City's pre-takeover years.
