Collection: Liverpool
Liverpool FC is one of the most decorated clubs in English football history, with 19 league titles, 6 European Cups and a fanbase that stretches across every corner of the world. The club was founded in 1892 after a dispute between Everton FC and their landlord John Houlding, who then simply started a new club on the same ground, Anfield. Within a decade, Liverpool had already won their first league title.
The 1970s and 1980s were the club's defining era. Under Bob Paisley, Liverpool won three European Cups in five years between 1977 and 1981, a feat no English club has come close to matching since. Key players in that period include Kenny Dalglish, who scored the winning goal in the 1978 European Cup final, and Ian Rush, who remains the club's all-time top scorer with 346 goals. Liverpool won eight league titles in just 13 seasons during that stretch, making them by far the most dominant force in English football.
The modern peak came under Jürgen Klopp. In the 2018/19 season Liverpool finished with 97 points in the Premier League, which was enough to win the title in almost any other season, but were beaten by Manchester City. They made up for it in style, winning the Champions League that same year by beating Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid. The following season they ended a 30-year wait for the league title, finishing with 99 points from 38 games. Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mané were the standout players in what many consider the best Liverpool side in decades.
Liverpool have worn all-red since 1964, when Bill Shankly introduced the full red kit. For many years Adidas produced their shirts, including some of the most collectible kits in the club's history. Nike took over the manufacturing deal in 2020. Among collectors, the 2005/06 home shirt is particularly sought after; worn the season after the famous Istanbul comeback against AC Milan in the Champions League final. Also the 2019/20 home shirt, worn during the title-winning season under Klopp, has already become a modern classic on the resale market.
With six European Cups, more than any other English club, and a history built on legendary managers and world-class players, Liverpool shirts hold a permanent place among the most wanted in football shirt collecting.
