AC Milan 2011/12 Away Shirt (L-Excellent)

AC Milan opened the 2011/12 season as reigning Serie A champions, having ended a seven-year wait for the Scudetto the previous year under manager Massimiliano Allegri. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, on loan from Barcelona for that title-winning campaign, was made a permanent Milan player that summer, and the club began the new season by beating city rivals Inter to win the Supercoppa Italiana.

The title defence ended in heartbreak on the final day. Milan finished level on points with Juventus but lost out on goal difference, a race decided in part by a controversial moment away at Juventus earlier in the season, when a shot that appeared to have crossed the line was not given as a goal. Individually, Ibrahimovic still had one of the finest seasons of his career, scoring 28 league goals and 35 in all competitions. Milan also reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since 2006/07, a run that ended against Barcelona, and went out to Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-finals. Milan finally had some big names playing for them again. 

This AC Milan 2011/12 away shirt was worn throughout the campaign by a squad that also featured Thiago Silva, Alessandro Nesta and Clarence Seedorf. It closed out an era for the club in more ways than one, as several of Milan's most decorated players, including Nesta, Filippo Inzaghi, Gennaro Gattuso and Seedorf, all departed at the end of the season, alongside Ibrahimovic himself, who was sold to Paris Saint-Germain that summer for a reported fee of around twenty million euros.
