Barcelona finished sixth in LaLiga in 2002/03 after a turbulent campaign that saw three different managers take charge. Louis van Gaal began the season before being replaced by Radomir Antić in January, with the club eventually securing qualification for the following season’s UEFA Cup through its league position. In Europe, Barcelona performed considerably better, winning all six group-stage matches in the Champions League before reaching the quarter-finals. Their run ended against Juventus, who progressed after a 3–2 aggregate victory following extra time in the second leg. The squad included players such as Xavi, Patrick Kluivert, Marc Overmars and Carles Puyol, while the season marked the final year before a major rebuilding period that would eventually lead to Barcelona’s success under Frank Rijkaard.
