The 2011/12 season was the fourth and last with Pep Guardiola as manager of Barcelona. In the previous 3 years he had won every trophy possible and changed Barca's identity by playing the most loved football style in the world of football. In the 2011/12 season Barcelona managed to win both the Supercopa and Copa del Rey. However, they could not win LaLiga and finished in 2nd place. They came 9 points short to crown themselves champions of Spain. In the Champions League they topped their group, with BATE, Viktoria Plzen and AC Milan. They ended with a total of 16 points and advanced to the knockout stages. In the round of 16 they beat Leverkusen with a 10-2 score on aggregate. Then they faced Milan again in the quarter finals. After beating them once in the group stage, they now beat them 3-1 on aggregate and advanced to the semi-finals, against Chelsea. Despite two great games where they had the upper hand, Barca lost to Chelsea and got knocked out of the Champions League. Key players in this memorable Barcelona squad were Xavi, iniesta and Lionel Messi.
