Barcelona 2019/20 Home Shirt Messi Player Version

The Barcelona 2019/20 home shirt was made by Nike and broke with more than a century of tradition by replacing the club's famous vertical stripes with a blue and red chequered pattern. The design was inspired by the grid layout of Barcelona's districts, one of the city's most recognisable urban developments. The Catalan Senyera flag is featured as part of the collar. This shirt is printed with Lionel Messi name and number 10, the number he had worn since 2008 and one that became permanently associated with the greatest player in Barcelona's history. This Barca 2019/20 home shirt comes in size small (S) and mint condition, meaning the shirt is as new. The shirt comes in player version and uses AJ5257-456 as style code. 

Barcelona entered the 2019/20 season as defending LaLiga champions after winning the title in four of the previous five years. Ernesto Valverde started the campaign as head coach before being replaced by Quique Setién in January 2020. Camp Nou remained the centre of one of the strongest squads in Europe, featuring Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Antoine Griezmann, Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong. During this period, Messi was not only Barcelona's captain but also the club's all time leading goalscorer, continuing to break records almost every season while carrying the team both domestically and in Europe.

The 2019/20 season was heavily disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, causing Spanish football to be suspended for almost three months between March and June 2020. Barcelona finished second in LaLiga with 82 points, five behind champions Real Madrid, while their Copa del Rey campaign ended in the quarter finals after a 1-0 defeat against Athletic Club. In the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona reached the quarter finals before suffering an historic 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich in Lisbon. Lionel Messi once again finished as the club's top scorer, recording 31 goals and 26 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions. He also won the Pichichi Trophy with 25 league goals, becoming LaLiga's top scorer for the seventh time and equalling Telmo Zarra's long standing record.
