Barcelona 2023/24 Home Shirt

The 2023/24 Barcelona home shirt marked the first time the club dedicated a home kit to the history of Barca Femeni. The familiar blue and red stripes return, but in the club crest a subtle diamond has been integrated. That diamond represents the badge of the first official Barcelona women's supporters' group, whose team played the first women's football match at Camp Nou on Christmas Day in 1970. It was the second consecutive Barcelona home shirt to feature Spotify as the main shirt sponsor. Barcelona began the 2023/24 season as defending Spanish champions under Xavi Hernandez, but were unable to retain their LaLiga title, finishing second behind Real Madrid with 85 points. They reached the UEFA Champions League quarter finals for the first time since 2020 before losing 4-1 on aggregate to Paris Saint-Germain. The club also reached the Supercopa de España final, where they were beaten 4-1 by Real Madrid, while their Copa del Rey campaign ended in the quarter finals after a 4-2 extra time defeat against Athletic Club. Robert Lewandowski finished as Barcelona's leading scorer with 26 goals in all competitions, while teenage winger Lamine Yamal established himself as a first team regular. At just 16 years old, Yamal became the youngest player in Barcelona's history to score in LaLiga and later the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Spanish national team.

Barcelona's commitment to developing academy players remained visible throughout the season. Alongside experienced players such as Ilkay Gündoğan, Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo, academy graduates Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Alejandro Balde and Gavi all played important roles before injuries affected the squad during the second half of the campaign. Xavi announced in January 2024 that he intended to leave at the end of the season, before briefly reversing that decision in April. His departure was eventually confirmed after the final league match, bringing an end to his first spell as Barcelona's head coach. The 2023/24 season therefore became both the breakthrough year of a new generation and the closing chapter of Xavi's time on the Barcelona bench.
