The 2018/19 Champions League campaign was one for the history books. Bayern Munich was in a group with Ajax, Benfica and AEK and ended up topping the group. The next round they lost against Liverpool 3-1 on aggregate, making it a disappointing season for the Bavarians. Javi Martinez was an important rotation piece as he played 37 games in the 2018/19 season in all competitions.
