Franck Ribery was handed the Fiorentina captain's armband for the opening two matches of the 2020/21 season, a mark of respect for the Frenchman despite him being 37 years old and two seasons into his spell in Florence after leaving Bayern Munich as a free agent in 2019.
The season that followed was one of the most turbulent in recent Fiorentina history. Giuseppe Iachini started as head coach but was replaced by former Italy manager Cesare Prandelli in November 2020, only for Prandelli to resign the following March, citing a personal struggle he described as a "dark cloud" that sparked a wider conversation in Italian football about coaches' mental health. Iachini returned on an interim basis and guided the club to safety, with Fiorentina eventually finishing 13th in Serie A. Twenty-one-year-old Dusan Vlahovic emerged as the team's breakout star that year, scoring 21 league goals in his first season as first-choice striker, while Ribery, hampered by fitness problems throughout, still produced moments of brilliance, including two assists in a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Inter in only the club's second match of the campaign.
This home shirt, produced by Le Coq Sportif, keeps Fiorentina's traditional deep purple, a colour the club has worn since 1928 as a tribute to the Florentine coat of arms. The white fleur-de-lis crest, known as the giglio, sits on the chest, and Ribery wore this shirt with the captain's armband during his opening appearances of the season, in what turned out to be his final full campaign in Florence before a move to Salernitana that September. This Fiorentina 2020/21 home shirt is available in size medium and new with tags condition.
