The Netherlands qualified for UEFA Euro 2012 by winning every match in their qualifying group, collecting the maximum 30 points from ten games. Bert van Marwijk's side scored 37 goals and conceded only eight, finishing comfortably ahead of Sweden and Hungary. The squad was built around the core that had reached the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, with Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Robin van Persie, Rafael van der Vaart and Dirk Kuyt all returning for the tournament in Poland and Ukraine. At the time, Sneijder had already become one of the most influential midfielders in Dutch football history, having earned more than 85 international caps and played a decisive role in the Netherlands' run to the World Cup final two years earlier.
Despite arriving as one of the favorites, UEFA Euro 2012 became one of the biggest disappointments in recent Dutch football history. The Netherlands lost 1-0 to Denmark in their opening match despite registering more than 25 shots on goal. Defeats against Germany and Portugal followed, leaving the team bottom of Group B without a single point. Wesley Sneijder started all three matches and remained the creative focal point in midfield, creating the highest number of chances for the Dutch team during the tournament. Earlier that season he had won the Coppa Italia with Inter Milan, making 35 appearances across all competitions before joining the national squad for the European Championship.
Nike introduced a cleaner look than the previous home shirt by removing unnecessary graphics and focusing on the traditional Dutch orange color. The bright orange body is combined with black detailing on the sleeve cuffs, while a darker orange geometric print appears as a design. The KNVB crest is stitched onto the chest, referencing the national symbol that has appeared on Dutch football shirts for decades. This shirt was worn by Wesley Sneijder during UEFA Euro 2012 and represents the final tournament in which the generation that reached the 2010 World Cup final played together before major changes were made to the national team. This Netherlands 2012 home shirt comes in player version, meaning it is made out of lightweight material and has different textures to enhance player performance. The Nike and KNVB logo's are heat pressed and the shoulder stitching is replaced by tape. The shirt is available in size small (S) and excellent condition, as the tape from the air holes on the inside of the shirt are partly cracked. 447406-815 is the style code used by Nike for this Holland football shirt.
