Nike produced the Western Sydney Wanderers 2017/18 home shirt, with 873079-658 as style code, as the club entered its sixth A-League season. The design uses the Wanderers’ traditional black and red hoops, with Nike continuing as the club’s kit supplier and NRMA Insurance as the main shirt sponsor. The 2017/18 release was also part of a new three-year Nike partnership announced by the club, extending their relationship through the 2019/20 season.
The shirt was worn during a season of significant change at Western Sydney. Tony Popovic left the club shortly before the A-League campaign began, with Hayden Foxe taking temporary charge before Josep Gombau was appointed head coach in November 2017. Western Sydney finished seventh in the regular-season A-League table with 33 points from 27 matches, recording eight wins, nine draws and ten defeats. Oriol Riera was the club’s leading scorer, finishing the season with 19 goals in all competitions, including 15 in the A-League. The Wanderers also reached the semi-finals of the FFA Cup, where they were eliminated by Adelaide United. The season included a 2–0 victory over Sydney FC in the Western Sydney Derby in December, played in front of 36,433 spectators at ANZ Stadium. For collectors of Australian football shirts, this Nike edition represents the Wanderers during an important transitional period. This football shirt comes in Size Small (S) and is in Excellent condition.
